PROJECT DESCRIPTION
A series of critical structures were observed to be settling at the plant, including the Stage 1 distribution channels which connect the main bioreactor to the FSTs, a temporary solution was previously implemented. The objective of this project was to support with civil works the installation of a new foundation system to reinstate the channel flow and eliminate further settlement. The works included:
- Detailed Excavation and Backfill specific to the new FRP works. Commencement and reinstatement from to Piling Platform level which is to be nominally existing ground – approx. at 2.4m GL
- Minor Excavation and backfilling works to expose existing pipework and to enable tie-ins for the return sludge pipe and mixed liquor pipework (FST 4 and FST 8)
- Pile Trimming Works
- Concrete FRP works for multiple structures:
- Concrete headwall and footing (with bore rock anchored to concrete structure) with pipe penetrations
- Pipe support beams (Support Beam Type A and 2 x Support Beam Type B)
- Piping Slab and Extension Footing for Light pole footing
- Installation of water proofing system – Hypalon bandages (or similar approved systems) at joint interfaces between existing channel and new wall
- Excavation and trenching works associated with underground service installation (earthing and relocation of electrical services including pits)
- Construction of asphalt footpath
